A New Pizza Place In Logan Utah

On a chilly night in Logan, the view of a stone fire pit from Main Street is a warming sight. A small family owned restaurant named “Jack’s Wood Fired Oven”, having opened just the week before Christmas 2009, sits at 256 North Main Street. A warm Tuscan color palette makes you feel at home when you first walk into the front doors.
The owner, Jack Carlisle, was working hard in the kitchen when I first arrived. When ordering, he recommended the restaurant favorite “That One Pizza” and a Jack’s Pizza original, Lyon bread. Each pizza is made with Carlisle’s family recipe pizza dough that took him and his wife two years to perfect. “We used to import our flour from Italy,” Carlisle said about when he was first making his dough. Luckily, he found a much more convenient option that tasted just as good.
The Lyon bread, which Carlisle says is their version of breadsticks, has a unique taste. Made with fresh mozzarella, provolone, and Parmesan cheeses, sprinkled with salt and olive oil, Lyon bread offers a bright new take on a well-known classic. The mixture of cheeses with the clean taste of olive oil is not overpowering or greasy. I especially enjoyed the thin crispy feel the sticks had, along with a touch of salt, bringing out the sharpness of the cheese.
“That One Pizza”, also known as margarita pizza, is the restaurant favorite for a reason. A simple staple to the pizza genre, “That One Pizza” has only three ingredients: mozzarella, fresh basil, and red sauce. Want to know the best part about it? You can taste the authenticity of the wood fire bake. A thin crust that is not overcooked hit the spot with the rest of the pizza.
Carlisle, when asked why he decided to open the restaurant, gave a simple answer. He loves to cook. He learned to cook from his mother and wanted to bring the tradition to his family. They started out having parties in their backyard, cooking for neighbors and friends. Carlisle even has his own portable fire pit he would bring to weddings and fairs.
Families and college students were coming and going as we talked to Carlisle and ate his pizza. Quick service and an affordable price to boot, Jack’s Wood Fired Oven is sure to continue through the years bringing new pizza to a city filled with bland pizza places.

Thank you so much for the wonderful review! I wanted to comment on our wonderful Lyon Bread: It is spelled Lyon because it is named after our friends in Lewiston who actually showed us how to make this wonderful flat bread. JoLynne Lyon spent some time in Italy and she and her wonderful husband Brett shared this recipe with us. Thanks!
That pizza place looks amazing! How did you get that office space there on main street? That seems like a perfect location. Logan is a great place. Good luck to you! I’ll stop by some time soon i hope.
